Also known as collagen induction therapy, Medical Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure which minimizes the signs of aging, improves the appearance of acne scarring, and rejuvenates aging skin. The Candela Exceed™ microneedling device is the first dually indicated FDA approved device indicated for both facial acne scars and facial wrinkles. This device keeps client safety at the forefront by using disposable needle cartridges and covers for each device use.

What to Expect

A numbing agent will be applied to the skin for approximately 20 minutes before the procedure is performed. After numbing is complete a double cleanse will take place using a gentle cleanser, followed by using an anti-septic solution to help prevent infection.

Once the face is completely cleared of debris, a medically compounded serum containing Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid will be applied to the skin being treated before and immediately after procedure. During your microneedling, you will feel a vibration on the skin with minimal to no pain. You may see slight redness and swelling after 24 hours but only in minimal areas or spots. Post care instructions will be discussed and given to you after treatment. 

NOTE: The Candela Exceed™ Microneedling is considered "Medical Microneedling". This treatment's cost is higher due to it being an FDA cleared, dually indicated device. There are many less expensive options on the market that are not FDA cleared. These devices are not recommended due to safety and efficacy issues.

  • Treatment Preparation
    Before receiving your microneedling service, please make sure that you discontinue use of retinols 7-10 days prior to treatment. Avoid prior sun exposure for 7-10 days. Please let your technician know if you’re taking any medications and/or blood thinners such as aspirin as this may cause more bleeding. If you are planning to receive Botox, make sure that you give yourself 2 weeks post injections before having microneedling treatment. If you have an active or extreme breakout (including cold sores), it is best to let your technician know in order to determine best course of action or to reschedule your appointment. Please wait 6 months following oral isotretinoin use before scheduling your microneedling service.
     

  • Treatment Duration
    1 hour minimum appointment time (could be more depending on how many areas are being treated).
     

  • Repeat
    Series of 4 treatments recommended every 4 weeks.

    It is highly recommended to pair The Candela Exceed™ microneedling with Red Light Therapy. This 20 minute add on is perfect post microneedling to eliminate redness and the burning sensation. Red Light Therapy assists in cell regeneration and healing. In addition, Microneedling works best when paired with the correct post treatment products. These products can result in better treatment outcomes if used correctly. The most recommended products post treatment are:
